A lady named Tosha offered a recent review of Just Energy. Tosha believes she is being charged for a previous account. Her current electric bill says she owes $206.19.
They gave them a 1 star review, ouch! A 1 star review really hurts as far as companies are concerned. Many businesses have social media managers to help resolve social media complaints to better improve their overall standing on social media.
When she goes online and pulls up her account it says she has a bill balance of $102.00. She claims that there is no record of a bill or account that justifies this bill balance of $102.00.
This sounds like a strange case as I feel like there is something left out I am missing. How does she know an account balance was transferred to her new account with Just Energy?

She makes a point to say that there is nothing in the contract that says someone’s account can be transferred over to a new users account. It is true that if something is not in the contract the consumer definitely would have some protections in this case.
Tosha says she will be submitting a complaint with the Financial Consumer Protection Bureau. I would recommend that she submit a complaint with the Public Utility Commission of Texas as they do a great job in handling customer disputes. The PUCT holds the retail electric providers accountable and in general I have seen that the providers will make a lot of concessions to help the customer.
Another helpful place to submit real issues is with the Texas Attorney General. You can get a lot of help through the attorney general and companies will usually try their best to resolve issues that go to the attorney general.
After Tosha having left the complaint on the social media site, Yelp, a social media manager with Just Energy reached out to her. Within just a day Just Energy communicated with this discouraged customer to help resolve the issue.
It helps to make public your complaint if it is not handled over the phone. The PUCT recommends trying to resolve the issue over the phone directly with the electric provider. If the provider does not help resolve the problem after you do this these additional avenues such as contacting the PUCT are recommended to get your desired result.
