I have seen several review websites that offer a chance for an electric customer to leave a review.
Let’s visit this negative review and see how fair it is to the electric provider. Just because they are a big company does not mean they are evil.
Companies can do sometimes cause bad situations so I will take a fair assessment of the stated complaint and give my explanation.

When there is a late fee you disagree with you have every right to argue that late fee with the electric company. You can even file a report with the Public Utility Commission and they are required to get back with you in a timely manner and rectify the matter.
I have often seen providers overly assist on the side of the customer as a matter of course when the complaint has been filed with the PUCT.
In this complaint it looks like the customer stopped paying his electric bill which will create more headaches for the customer. After 10 days the electric company can and usually does turn off your electric service if you are delinquent even if you made a complaint.
The erroneous late fee complaint should be made with the electric provider and so kudos to the Bounce Energy customer for doing that but they also need to file a complaint with the PUCT for consumer protection.
An attorney often handles these consumer complaints filed with the PUCT. The attorney is trying to keep their complaint score low and satisfaction record high.
The PUCT issues retail electric provider ratings and report cards regularly. Companies like Bounce don’t want an authority organization like this putting them at the top of the list for unresolved customer complaints.
If you don’t put pressure on the electric company with the Public Utility Commission they just don’t have the needed pressure to handle the customers “erroneous late fee”.
We can’t know for sure if the late fee was truly erroneous or not. Did Bounce Energy make a mistake and bill the customer a late fee? It’s possible and if so the PUCT would have easily handled this one and the fee would have been paid back to the customer and perhaps there might have been an added bonus thrown in for good measure.
So for any energy consumer reading this the PUCT is your friend and can help with issues like this.
