Did you know that you could chop as much as 33% off of your Pennsylvania electric bill just by choosing a more energy efficient air conditioner? You can. Following is why.
The Importance of SEER
If you’re in the market for a new air conditioner, following is the most important thing you need to know to select the most energy efficient unit for your home.
SEER is the acronym for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. Using numbers between 8 and 23, SEER tells consumers how energy efficient an AC unit is. The higher the SEER number, the more efficient the unit is.
For example, if you upgrade your old system with has a SEER rating of 9 to one with a 13 (which is the lowest legal limit now), you can cut your energy use by a third. This is why when you’re shopping for an air conditioner, it’s extremely important to pay attention to its SEER rating.
Couple AC Savings with Energy Plan Savings & Really See the Difference
Just as important as choosing energy efficient appliances for your home, is selecting the right Pennsylvania electricity plan.
With so many choices now, it can be confusing to know which plan can save you more. But, keep the following in mind, no matter which plan you use, you’re being charged by the kilowatt hour (kWh).
If you’re currently on a prepaid electric service plan you may be paying 13, 14 or 15 cents or more per kWh, whereas someone with a conventional plan could be paying as little as 9, 10 or 11 cents per kWh.
Call your Pennsylvania electricity company and ask about low-deposit and no-deposit electric service plans. There’s no reason for you to pay significantly more for energy – especially with so many options just a phone call away.
