What to know
Reliant Energy was started in Texas and has grown into the brand they are today. Reliant has been around for a long time providing reliable electric service to people in Houston and throughout Texas. Reliant has a customer base in the millions.
What to expect:
- A notice will come to your mail or email letting you know 30 days in advance when your electricity service account is scheduled to transition over to the Reliant system.
- When your Reliant electric service starts you will get a notice about your account number, service plan name, and the start date of service.
What will stay the same?
- Your rate plan, current rate you on now, as well as when you started and when the plan ends will all stay the same.
- Whatever electric bill delivery method you chose will stay the same.
- The option you chose for autopay will stay intact.
- If you have a deposit already established that will not change.
- Your contract documents will all be in force as agreed upon until your energy contract is up.
What will change?
- Your account will have a new number.
- The way you would like to receive your bill will need to be updated in the Reliant system.
- The place you mail your payments, the phone number and email address you communicate with have all changed.
- You will need to setup a new user name on the Reliant site as the old website with First Choice Power is no longer available.
- Your electric rate plan name has changed but that’s it. Your rate and everything else is still the same.
